Theme Park Fashion Outfit Inspirations – What I wore at USS
By now you guys must have guessed that I had been to Singapore recently, which was my first official trip with my toddler and I must tell you, it was great fun! (Despite all the pre-travel frenzy and everything in the universe seemingly working against the trip, We managed to make it!! Yayy!!) While I will be posting a full fledged post on our travel experience and some baby friendly travel tips later on the blog, today I want to head directly to the most amazing thing about Singapore (atleast for me!), The Universal Studios Singapore!! It was my first time visiting a proper Theme Park, my idea of theme park till now being our very own Adlabs Imagica 😛 So I wanted to make sure I was well equipped for it in every way and make the most of my trip to USS.
After a lot of research on the climate, the park’s attractions and theme park attires, I settled down with few looks that decoded my personal style and comfort. So here is my Singapore Universal Studios Theme park Fashion Guide, which can be followed for any Theme or Adventure park as they are pretty much the same everywhere.
Theme Park Fashion Outfit 1 – Comfort is the Key
The first and foremost thing that I came across during my research was the Hot and humid climate of Singapore and the open nature of the Theme park, add to it lots of fun activities, adventure rides, ample of walking and water rides zeroed in one thing “Comfortable Outfits” that are wrinkle free and get dry easily. My idea of Comfort is a breezy tank top and denim shorts, which led to my first look for the universal studios.

Tank & Shorts – Theme Park Outfit 1

Theme Park fashion essentials
Inspired with the disney costume theme, I settled for this cute mickey tank top that was apt for a Disney Theme park and the breathable t-shirt material provided me much comfort in the hot perspiring weather. The ripped shorts are somewhere between denim and chambray so pretty easy to dry. A hat and some swag sunglasses complete the look. Since I was with my little one we didn’t go on water rides, In case you are heading to one, do not forget to pack a change or maybe some tight fitting dark tank top or camisole inside, that will rule out any free show. For footwear I chose white converse sneakers that were super comfy, went with all of my outfits (no change required) and would dry easily if got wet. The theme parks have hell lot of walking and comfortable flat shoes or strappy sandals are a must.

Theme Park Fashion Outfit 2 – Dressy for fairytales
Theme park is synonymous for beautiful backgrounds and set-ups and that is what essentially separates it from the normal adventure parks or fairs. Dramatic fairy tale backdrops call for some cutesy dresses to flaunt. However, keeping in mind the humid weather and the adventure rides, I rounded in for this cute cotton midi dress that is totally breathable, chic and totally princess material. The cool blue and white combination gave me a soothing feel in the scorching sun and adding up a straw hat would perfect that Dramatic Look!

Theme Park Fashion Outfit 3 – Preppy Crop Tops
Crop Tops are not only a popular at fashion weeks but can be your “Go To” item when travelling, Pair them with well fitting jeans or a pair of high waisted shorts and you are sure to rock your theme park attire. Pack in some oomph with polka dotted pastel or floral high waisted shorts for some preppy fun photo ops at the theme park. I opted for a lace applique shorts along with a similar crop-top which kind of strikes a balance between girlish & adventurous and completed my look with a fancy cap, light denim vest jacket and a pink back-pack (essential for mommy travelers).

I was not comfortable with off-shoulders or grunge style tops as I was to carry my toddler around, who has a habit of tugging and pulling at my clothes and so I prefer safe outfits that can withstand a malfunction hazard and are comfy for the numerous washroom visits! 😀 You could try an off-shoulder or a bustier top with a fun printed cotton shorts or even a short Jumpsuit as below!
Theme Park Fashion Outfit 4 – Jumpsuits & Overalls
I think jumpsuits or overalls are great for amusement parks as they are comfortable and look great and it has a certain “Back to School” vibe to it. I for one, did not opt for it as I had already planned my jumpsuit for another attraction and also because I was spending the whole day at Universal Studios, which meant many trips to the loo and I am pretty uncomfortable with the combination of the both! (call me lazy!)

So even though I did not wear this one at Universal Studios specifically, but I’d still add it up to my Theme Park Outfit Inspiration list as I think it can still work better than skirts. A personal tip would be to go ahead with the skirt jumpsuits rather than the pant style ones, they won’t ride up your thighs while on the rides and still be airy and utilitarian.
Theme Park Fashion Outfit 5 – Get into the Character!
Add up a cute bow hair band or a mickey mouse cap or flaunt some pretty bunny ears while you are at it. Be it Disneyland or Universal studios, these amusement theme parks are your ticket to childhood and nothing better than getting into cartoon characters to get the real feel. And if you are lucky enough, you might as well get a photo opp with your favorite cartoon character. I twinned up with my little one with these cutesy mickey mouse hats. While many of them were with bunny ear or Elmo (sesame street character) headbands.

Theme Park Fashion Outfit 6 – Ripped Jeggings & Straw Hat
If there was one outfit that I would totally love to have done at Universal Studios Singapore apart from the ones listed above, then it would be a Ripped leggings, tank top & a straw hat. Its casual, its grunge, its comfy and its great for a long day at an amusement park. Tie a plaid shirt on the waist & pair your sexy boots for the full on Swag!
