Designer Fahd Khatri’s Collection – An upbeat fusion of Sahara Dessert & Convertible Cars on the Ramp!
If you guys are following me on Instagram you already know I was in Mumbai covering the Lakme Fashion Week 2017’s Spring Summer season, showcasing some major innovative designers who took the ramp by storm with their talent and creativity. Fashion Designer Fahd Khatri came up with a really striking combination of art and comfort in his collection named “Tim Bak Too” named after a city in Sahara Dessert, where he used the tie dyed weaves inspired from the lines of sand dunes of “Sahara dessert” and made them into convertible outfits such that a single garment could be styled in multiple ways.

Inspired from the concept of “Convertible Cars” of 1930’s Fahd presented a versatile collection with different drapes and styles for each of the silhouettes. The colour palette also was inspired by Dessert with yellow, orange, light blue, and mud green being the prominent colours.

There was an array of tunics with drapes that could be transformed to make it into different outfits. These were teamed with drop crotch pants and wide leg pants. This was essentially done to make them comfortable and easy to pack for women on the go. Menswear included three piece ensembles with tailored jackets as the key feature.

What I personally loved about his collection was that people like me who can hardly make a drape look beautiful or carry it elegantly can sport a beautiful pre-construed drape that can be styled different with just a change of buttons and zips and that’s just so cool! We got lucky to Interview the Designer personally to know more about his collection, inspiration and get some fashion tips for you readers and I will be uploading it soon on Fashionmate’s Youtube channel as well as here.
