Shyamal Bhumika’s Royal Collection at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012
Glitz, Glamour and Royalty came live on the ramp at Shyamal and Bhumika Sodhan Collection at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Day-4. Shyamal Bhumika’s latest collection named “Maharaja” recreated the grandeur and glory of the Royalty from the past with custom designed motifs and perfectly colour coordinated Men and Women’s bridal Outfits giving a new definition to Wedding trousseaux.

The dramatic silhouettes reminded of Mughal Era with chogas, kalidar lehengas, Sherwanis, panelled kurtas for men and embroidered kali details for saris, angarkhas, lehengas, dupattas and cholis embellished with zardozi, metal wire, zari peeta, aari and Marodi embroidery.

Talking about her Royal Collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2012 Bhumika said, “We wanted to recreate the grandeur of Indian Royalty. Each garment took us 14-15 days to design and each is unique in its own way.”

Shyamal & Bhumika’s favoured fabric for the bridal outfits was Velvet appearing in sherwanis, kurtas, cholis, saris and even for dupattas and shawls; Whereas net, brocade and georgette were used to add up more glitz and glamour to the whole collection. The rich colour palette suited the theme with red, wine, jade, black, maroon, teal, purple, ivory, blue, ruby, champagne, beige and gold giving a dramatic touch to the Royal Collection.

Men’s wear was stylish as well as elegant creating the grandeur of Mughal courts. Men wore heavily embellished sherwanis, chogas, kurtas and Jodhpuri jackets with dhotis, salwars or churidars and imposing shawls or dupattas.

Women wore floor length kurta’s with multi fabric saris and lehenga’s creating a magnificent look for the traditional attire. Detialing of zardozi embroidery uplifted the look of lehengas.
