Wedding Season is in full swing despite the hot weather 😀 which reminds me of one “Must-have” that we all need this wedding season, A Beautiful SARI!! Saree is one of my favorite Indian garment, for one it makes me look slim ( I so need it these days :P) and secondly it is a versatile garment that can look great at any function or party or even at work. This 9 meters of cloth can be your precious treasure, especially if you are in the Wedding zone! I mean look around you, there are hardly any weddings that are complete without an elaborate saree! Whether it be a cousin’s wedding, a friend’s or your Own, A gorgeous saree shall go a long way! (May be more if you are doing your trousseau :D)

Having said that, selecting a good saree can be little tricky.Its important to pick a saree that goes with your style sensibilities and is comfortable to carry. So, Do you know your saree well? In order to know what Saree should suit you best & is appropriate for the function/ party you are heading to, you should first be familiar with the types of Sarees available & the various trends in Saree. This season is all about different contrasting blouses, tribal inspirations, mixing and matching and different types of draping! Well let me give you a little hint about the type of sarees that are trending this wedding season.

These days the elaborate lehenga’s have taken a back seat, giving way to a Lehenga Saree. Designer Sabyasachi has made the Indian brides look all the more contemporary and beautiful with his evolved Lehenga Sarees, that is a fusion of a lehenga like pleats in a light weighted embroidered Saree. The Bridal Lehenga Saree are more of traditional and authentic Bridal wear but with a contemporary twist keeping in mind the bride’s comfort. These designer lehenga Sarees or Half Sarees as they are generally termed ( Deepika padukone made it famous remember?) are grand, elegant, trendy, quirky and yet super comfy. The best part is these Lehenga Sarees come in some vibrant fun colours that shall stand out in the crowd. So if you want something unique to flaunt a designer Lehenga Saree has to be your pick.
Elegant Embroidered Sarees:

These are basically single colored saree with motifs and resham embroidery all over to give an exquisite elegant look. These sarees are mostly bordered ones with the embroidery and have a very light weight texture. They are best for a party or elaborate function when you want to move about and yet look gorgeous. These designer embroidered sarees comes mostly in Georgette & Chiffon with beautiful thread, resham and zari work.
Hand Embroidery or Thread-work Sarees:

The thread-work or hand embroidered sarees are unique in itself as they speak of craftsmanship on light weight textures. Most of them are self embroidered or in contrasting thread work giving a certain uniqueness to the sarees. I am typically a fan of those Lucknowi saree that come in pastel shades and white thread-work.

The Net saree is the next big thing when it comes to comfort and style. Past few years Net Sarees are selling like hot pancakes, ever since Manish Malhotra has introduced the sheer sarees, net and shimmer have taken vogue like anything. Firstly because it’s sheer and secondly because there is no heavy embroidery involved and thirdly it comes in various colours and contrasts. Light embellishments, scattered zari work or floral appliques is all you need to grace these designer net sarees.
Saree with Floral patchwork or Borders:

These are the most commonly found sarees, the Bordered Saree. These generally come in single colour with a contrasting floral patchwork or a floral lace border. Many times floral appliques are used as a Border to give more of a 3D effect. They are simple, sober and yet attractive because of the beautiful borders.

Last but not the least on my list is this simple plain lace saree. Without much a do, this is by far the most light weight & clutter-less saree I have come across. If you check out the first picture in the blog, the green lace saree is DIY -ed by yours truly and it looks amazing despite of its plainness. A lace saree is typically a saree from lace material, it can be bordered or border-less. While most of them are plain few have a little thread-work to go with it. Best suited for night parties these sarees can be your best friend when you want a light weight glam look. Wear a red lace saree with bright red lipstick and you are good to go!
