Banarasi silk is everywhere this year and with the upcoming wedding season, this gorgeous material is gonna set fire in every wedding function. Gone are the days when silk saree was mom-zoned and touted as aunty material during wedding season. This heritage material has now found new love amongst youngsters who have come up with so many unconvential ways of draping the banarasi silk. Especially the fashion designers who have been literally obsessed over Banarasi silk and we could witness it during the recent bridal fashion week and icw bridal collection. From Banarasi lehengas to dhoti pants and banarasi skirts with crop tops, banarasi vests and kameez, they have shown us so many different ways to rock this royal fabric. Taking a cue from our designers I have come up with this post about 7 different ways to style your banarasi silk dupatta.

Banarasi silk lehenga – Wedding lehenga with silk dupatta
A complete lehenga in banarasi silk is what I am talking about. Different shades same colour lehenga or contrast dupatta with colour co-ordinated lehenga in silk is in vogue these days. Which inspired me to go recreate a silk lehenga look with a silk gold blouse and a banarasi silk dupatta that I have draped in a gujarati saree drape and a net ghagra.

Banarasi silk Skirt – DIY Skirt from Dupatta
Another major trend for youngsters is a Banarasi silk skirt. You can wear a skirt in so many different ways to create looks ranging from indo-western to ethnic or completely traditional. Pair up your silk skirt with a crop top for a semi-traditional look or pair it below a kameez to create an ethnic lehenga. I do not own a silk skirt. But no fret, I own a silk dupatta and voila. A simple way to create DIY silk skirt from banarasi silk dupatta is to drape it all around with small pleats and you have your very own silk skirt. Make sure you double the material if you want to use a saree instead of dupatta, it works equally well.

Here I have worn the banarasi silk skirt with a basic white shirt to create an indo-western look which can be great for a pre-wedding funtion like sangeet. Adron your favourite saree brooch on the collar of the shirt and your favourite aviators to bring about a swag to your sangeet outfit.

Don your favourite jacket lehenga with a twist. Drape one of your banarasi silk dupatta to bring royalty to your outfit. The jacket lehenga will look all the more traditional with a silk dupatta. Here I have paired a bandgala jacket lehenga with my banarasi pink dupatta to create this elaborate look.

Crop top, Silk Ghagra and Dupatta
Create a striking look while fusing three different outfits made of silk fabric. I have used a silk ghagra from one of my anarkalis and paired it with a solid blue crop top and used my pink banarasi silk dupatta to pull togather this indo-western festive look. Accessorize it with statement neckpiece and you are ready to rock your wedding celebrities with elan.

Anarkali and Banarasi silk dupatta
Another glam way to rock your banarasi silk dupatta is to wear it on a matching Anarkali dress or a floor length gown. Here I have used the same banarasi silk dupatta on my floor length gown.

Here is an easy peasy way to style your banarasi silk dupatta. Just drape it over any simple white salwar suit and make your plain suit a grand affair.
