Sustainable fashion- Different ways to style your collared kurta!
Sustainable fashion is the only way forward. four different styles. Yesterday it was World Environment Day and being an Environmentalist myself, I always believe in reusing your clothes and investing into timeless pieces that you can style differently and repeat many times. Many of you have asked me to share tips on, “how to wear a shirt dress differently?” Since Shirt dress is the popular fashion trend of the year! I have got this shirt dress or a button down collared Kurta from Max Fashion India that perfectly fits the bill. I thought why not give you guys a few styling ideas on wearing a shirt dress in different ways. On my recent visit to my Mom’s, I went mall hopping and spotted this beautiful Ikat print shirt dress. Shirt dress is one of the latest fashion trends and its super casual and chic. This one has pretty collar neck and came with a matching cloth belt too! And, here is how I styled this shirt dress in four different ways. One can restyle in numerous ways, restyled clothing is super fashionable and pocket friendly. These are a few style inspirations for a shirt dress –
Street Style with Distressed Denims
Distressed Denims & Cape or Long Cardigan is really the coolest combination ever. This college girl staple is the perfect blend of style with comfort and has a certain edge to it.
Here I style the collared kurta as a Cape over my basic white top & Distressed Boyfriend jeans and created a completely different look out of my ordinary ikat shirt-dress. I paired them with my Black Stilettos and nerd glasses, and a white belt to break the monotony. I feel those heels give the whole look and Edgy touch.
Considering this is one of the “I don’t give a damn” kinda look, I tried something that I normally never do. I did a middle parting of my hair and let them fall the way they are. I believe a change in hairstyle can completely change your look at times and I do look very different here. The latest fashion trend of distressed denim easily blends with the shirt dress to give a fusion fashion look here!

Sporty Summer Dress
Summer calls for a vibrant Summer Dress and whats better than wearing your collared kurta as a Midi Dress? This is the second look from the different ways I styled a shirt dress, wherein I have used the cloth belt that has come with the dress to cinch up my waist a little. I completed the look with a pair of crystal earrings, white sling bag and white sneakers. I guess this is my plain Jane version of this outfit. Basically this is the most simplest way to style the shirt dress or collared kurta.
Sassy Off-shoulder Look
Off-shoulder or Cold shoulder has become a Summer staple this year and this one is the hottest fashion trend of the year. It is going to go down in history as the most adapted trend ever! The reason being simple, Off-shoulders are Sexy. Period! So I couldn’t possibly complete my post on different ways to wear a Tunic or shirt dress, without one off-shoulder look now, would I?
For this style I unbuttoned the top few buttons and pulled up the neck to give a broader off the shoulder look. I have simply folded the collar inside and tugged the shoulders down. The belt here plays a major role in keeping the dress in place. Add a pair of shiny shoes, reflector glasses and lots of attitude to carry this look effortlessly. You will see there is a marked difference in the length of the dress in this look and the earlier summer dress look. This is because of the broadened neck that has pulled the kurta a few inches upwards giving it a perfect lenght for an off-shoulder dress. Voila sporty shirt dress to sexy off-shoulder one piece in a jiffy!
Ethnic look
My final look for the shirt dress is the Indian style and the most simplest of all. This one is going to be my most worn style for now since I am clad in traditional attire almost everyday. For the ethnic look, I have paired the collared kurta with a white chikan Palazzos and added a silver clutch to complete my outfit.
I have left open the bottom buttons to give a high central slit to the kurta. You can even wear a sleek stole or a cotton dupatta with this one.
