New Saree Draping Styles for Summery Georgette Sarees!
If you have been following me on Instagram, you already know by now that I am recently doing a lot of Sarees. Especially my Mom’s sarees. And one of those saree is this Black floral embroidery Saree that is my Summer Special. Its a super light georgette saree with bright flower motifs on it. It being a floral saree is totally apt for Summer and since its so wearable, I though I will do a “four different saree draping styles” post with this one.

Saree is one outfit that never goes out of style. You can always revive an old saree with a new saree style! Which is why, Saree is a great investment. A new drape, a new blouse, a stylish belt and you have one more re-wear ready! These days there are so many new saree draping styles available like dhoti saree, belted saree, palazzo saree, etc. Its a great way to fuse contemporary look into a traditional outfit and also make it clutter free.

If you are new to Saree draping, choose materials that are easy to manage and can fold up quickly, like georgette, chiffon, etc. Even the printed floral sarees can be a great start for you guys. Next Pair up a contrasting top. The latest trend in Saree Blouse designs is to pick up a contrasting Blouse pattern or completely replace the saree blouse with one of your western tops, tshirts or crop top!

Like her I have used one of my Summer Dress as a Saree Blouse to create a new saree blouse pattern (On that later!) Lets head on to our first drape the Butterfly Saree Style.
The Butterfly Saree Drape
This is the pretty simple and most common drape of all, the Butterfly Saree drape. It is basically the nivi saree drape with a little bit cinched pallu so that it creates an illusion of butterfly wings in the front pleats when its stretched from both ends.

This is again a very simple to do and any saree draping beginners will able to carry this new saree style easily. Its just nivi style drape with a knot in the pallu right where you pin in with your blouse shoulder. Remove the pin gather the saree a knot it at the exact same place such that the knot comes directly over your collar bone.

The Sweeping Saree Trail – Saree with a Train!
Wondering what gibberish I am typing? Well, that’s what this fab new saree style is called. A fusion of Western bridal gowns and Indian saree, you get a Saree with a sweeping pallu trail that looks more or less like a gown. The actually Trail sarees have real long pallu with an oval cut at the end to give the feel of a Saree Train at the back. But one can easily make a short sweeping trail saree with s a small twist in your basic Nivi Drape.

Trail Drape Saree
Just pull out a few pleats such that your Pallu is a little longer than your length, tuk your saree at the shoulder with a safety pin and let the Pallu flow down in a beautiful trail. Your Saree with Trail is ready!
Different Saree draping Styles – The Casual Neck Drape
Another tiny twist in your basic Nivi and you get a very funky, casual draping style, The Neck Wrap Drape. Here you need to keep the pallu shorter than earlier drape and just wrap your pallu around your neck from the collar bone’s side such that both ends of pallu are in front of you.

This is a pretty easy and fun drape and will look great with your cotton sarees as well. If you want to give a boho look to your saree, Do this drape and wear some spunk jewellery and you are good to go!
