Monsoon Makeup trends – Dewy makeup, Shimmer makeup or Pastel Goth
Most people prefer to go makeup free during monsoons due to humid weather. However there is nothing like makeup to prep up your gloomy afternoons and if you are heading to work, you know you need an extra dose of that happy dust. Of late monsoon friendly makeup has preceded over the no makeup look and its because these looks are super easy to create and will not make your face look greasy or caked in this weather. The trick is to use as less makeup as possible and go for waterproof makeup to avoid any smudging. The dewy or wet makeup look, the all shimmer makeup and the pastel goth makeup are amongst the latest makeup trends of 2018. I tried my hands at all these three looks with moderation considering the weather and they all turned out to be great. Lets check out all three makeup looks.
Dewy makeup look
Monsoon tends to make your skin dry and its imperative to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day and also make it look shiny and not dull and drab. Which is why the dewy look is the most popular and sought after makeup for the season.
The most important part of this look is the makeup base. You can either use long lasting moisturizer, serum or essential oil cream to bring shine as well as hydrate your skin depending upon your skin type. My skin tends to be too dry during this weather so I have used a drop of coconut oil and spread it on my face as base and then used my BB cream to even the tone and cover pigmentation.
For the eyes I have used gold from Lakme 9 to 5 festive makeup palette and twilight lavender from Focallure twilight makeup palette below the crease and Martini from sleek snapshots eyeshadow palette for under the brow area.
I have used the lakme absolute shine liner and they are totally waterproof and have a peel off effect which is okay as far as it doesn’t smudge, which it does not. lakme eyeconic 9 to 5 kohl on my water line and Revlon Ultra HD gel lip colour in Rhubard for the glossy lips.
A messy hair bun compliments my dewy makeup look very well. This is how I finish my dewy makeup look.
Shimmer Makeup look
Another look that has stolen all our hearts is the shimmer makeup look. Almost similar to dewy makeup, shimmer has more of glittery effect and more defined. The prominent aspect of shimmer makeup would be the loose glitter or glitter eye shadows that are recently available in market in so many colours and pigmentation.
Here is my dull gold shimmer makeup look with bold eyes. Here I have used the lakme 9to5 festive palette and maybelline’s Nude eye-shadow palette. I have lined my eyes with a thick black winged eyeliner to make them prominent and used a brow pencil for definition.
I have given a slightly smokey touch to the eyes, a light blush and completed my look with mauve lipstick.
Pastel Goth Makeup look
Gothic makeup is now passé, the latest fad is pastel goth makeup. However pastel goth makeup is all about using pastel colours to create a gothic look. I have used pastel purple and blue for creating a goth look.
I have used a coloured liner and pastel lipstick to create this look. I have completed the look with Lakme Absolute lip pouts Masaba lip colour in role-a-cola.
