Reviewing the best salon for Spunky Summer Hairstyles in Pune!
The mercury is rising and I am back to sweating like anything during the day! Being a mommy and a work from home blogger keeps me running around on my two wheeler in this scorching heat for some work or other. Moreover, I can hardly keep pace with myself to pamper my long tresses, which is why last year during summer, I decided to chop them off! I mean make them short and my “short hair story” was inspired by a fellow blogger and friend Hetal Shah. It seems I need desperately need to go for my this year’s Summer hairstyle now! Anyways here is my short hair story of last summer that never made it to blog for reasons well known :)!
Now that it was decided that I wanted short hair or probably a completely different look, the question was whom to trust my frizzy mane with? Since I had weird partially curly partially flat hair (outcome of previous year’s permanent straightening!) I was super nervous about this new experiment and since I was looking for one of the best stylist in Pune, I somehow landed at “Mink by Sailesh Mistry“.
It is a cute and quirky salon situated in lane no 6 of Koregaon park offering premium hair and beauty services. Run by one of the celebrity hair stylists of Pune, Sailesh Mistry, Mink has an atmosphere to boast for. Bright vibrant furniture in a spacious setting for you to completely relax yourself while you get pampered!
Being in this line for quite a few years, Sailesh is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled professional in the hair care industry I have come across so far. His clientele boasts of some of the prominent socialites and politicians of the city and he truly believes in the power of “word of mouth” which is why he is never keen on advertising his work on any platform. Sailesh told me to wait in the lounge outside while he attended his previous client. One look at him working with his client and I knew I had come to the right place.
One look at my hair and he instantly knew I had done smoothening previously and that my original texture is curly. Now far from the other stylists who wouldn’t even blink before pitching in various smoothening treatments for curly hair, Sailesh told me to never do this atrocity to my hair again and also promised to teach me to managed my curly frizzy hair all by myself with some care and certain gels. He seems to be in favor of keeping hair in its natural structure and styling it around its original texture. Which was a breather!
I was looking for a complete makeover so I told him to go for a pixie cut but unfortunately that was not possible in my yet uneven textured hair. He also told me how I will have to part with my long hair as the ends were dry, brittle and lifeless. I was more than eager to do so as I was already aiming for a short hairstyle for the Summers. We settled for a one-length bob which would look great both in straightened hair and curly hair. Which meant I did not have to worry about straightening them everyday.
Sailesh kept on giving me tips for styling my curly mane in this short look while working on my tresses and I instantly knew my hair were in good hands! He also told me about his different clients and how every one of them trusts him immensely for the best look for themselves.
He seems to be a favorite for short hair styles and spunky looks amongst his clientele and very rightly so. I could see satisfactory smiles all around me and that lifted up my spirits for going for a short hair look all the more!
Half way through the process I was already loving what I saw and its only half job done. I felt as if a heavy weight was lifted of my head and my dull lifeless hair felt rejuvenated again. Sailesh also educated me on what kind of haircut will suit my face and how curly hair if maintained well can also look lovely.
Though very simple, the one length bob hair cut gave me a completely new look. I really liked how the bounce was back in my hair and despite being a little shorter they looked just lovely.
All my hair was of same length making it easier for me to style them the next time as I want them. Since I wanted a pixie cut and he had promised me one once my straightening effect wears off completely (reminds me to go for it this summer!)
Despite the hair doesn’t look too short, they are actually 4-5 inches shorter. And trust me I never had a bob cut hair in my life and now that I have it, I really really like them.
My stylist at Mink also gave me a slight fringe at front to frame my face better. But he also made sure its not to short so as to mix with the rest of the hair nicely.
I couldn’t thank Sailesh enough for the awesome hair cut that he gave me for the summers. The cost of a haircut at Mink is around 1800/- inr which was a little steep for my budget but considering the complete make-over that he gave me, I felt it was totally worth it. I would totally go to him next time. (In fact I am already planning my visit while writing this!)
And that’s the man with magic in his hands. Did I tell you he cut my hair in record time of 10 minutes? Oh yes, he is a total pro at it and so is his team at Mink.
My Take on Mink:
It is a really peppy place with one of the most fab hairstylist in Pune, whom you can totally trust for Make-overs. I myself had an amazing experience and despite that it comes with a price, I would definitely go there next time.
