Deepika Govind Brings Gujarat’s Patola Sarees at Lakme Fashion Week 2012-13 Ramp

Designer Deepika Govind pays tribute to Gujarat’s city Patan and its exclusive textile PatoLa’s by bringing them on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012-13 in the form of a Collection named “Pop Patola”. Combining Double and Single Ikats with Silk and satin with variety of bright colours ranging from Yellow, Orange, Purple, Magenta, Red and Green.

Modernization came into the overall ethnic collection with silhouettes of shapes like bubble,ballon and Petal’s came sashaying down the ramp. The modern animated prints were fused diligently with the ethnic Ikat technique using bright vivid colours giving a complete Multicultural look to the whole collection.

Fun motifs like Cars, Busses,TV sets, flowers, cars and toys came to life on blouses and skirts reminding me of my Quirkbox Event. Post coming soon ;). Two toned fabric saris were the high of the collection bringing in broad borders, embroidery and net with Patola and Silk.

Deepika brought Gujarat’s Patola on Ramp at LFW 2012-13

Keeping in mind the silhouettes, she had weaves running on the sides, hemlines, front and back of the outfits, with appliques like flowers, subtle embroidery, etc to enhance the overall look.

Fan-shaped shoulder and neck detailing appeared for the Cute Dresses with looped front and back hem-lines added a glamour quotient to  the collection. Satin Cowl and Cutwork Stand-up collar added a trendy element to the Patola Minis.

The whole collection was a celebration of beautiful Patola pattern hailing from Gujarat, with a unique modern twist making a great fashion statement and showcased extraordinary textile techniques.
